A carefully planned fire safety system includes a combination of active and passive fire protection techniques. Barrier Group Ltd has acquired a 49% stake in a North East-based rubber product manufacturing company. The Wallsend-based company has bought the share in Tyneside’s Aquaseal Rubber Ltd with the aim of helping to expand the business’ presence in to wider markets.

Aquaseal Rubber Ltd, which recently secured and delivered its biggest ever contract, has unveiled plans to further grow and develop the business. The company, which is based in Longbenton, North Tyneside, has strengthened its management structure to enable it to capitalise on emerging business opportunities.

The Wallsend-based company recently expanded its Coatings Division, enabling it to deliver neoprene coatings and rubber clamps for offshore wind towers. The move has since led to a project for TAG Energy Solutions. Barrier is now providing rubber linings for the clamps and guides being fitted to the transition pieces being constructed by TAG Energy Solutions, for E.ON’s Humber Gateway offshore wind farm.

Workers at Barrier Group have helped raise important funds for Freeman Hospital Children’s Heart Unit after reaching a landmark safety achievement. To mark the company reaching 500,000 hours without a Lost Time Accident it has donated £1,000 to the hospital unit.

Barrier Group, the international coatings specialist based in Wallsend, has secured a contract from OGN Group that has led to the creation of more than 20 local jobs. The project is part of the work required on the EnQuest Producer, a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel, which is currently at OGN’s Hadrian Yard, Wallsend.
